If you’re dreaming of a wedding that feels like stepping into an enchanted greenhouse—with high glass ceilings, sunlight streaming through lush greenery, and secret gardens around every corner—the New England Botanical Garden might just be your perfect venue.
Formerly known as Tower Hill Botanic Garden, this venue is a stunning mix of natural beauty and architectural charm. Whether you’re planning a joyful micro wedding or a larger celebration surrounded by beautiful blooms, it’s one of those rare venues that feels both timeless and entirely your own.
A Real Wedding at the Garden: Rose and Chris
Back in April 2024, I had the chance to photograph Rose and Chris’s micro wedding at the New England Botanical Garden, and it was such a sweet, intentional day.
They weren’t after anything over-the-top. They wanted something simple, meaningful, and relaxed. A day focused on being present with the people who mattered most. We kicked things off with a first look in the Secret Garden (yes, it’s as dreamy as it sounds)—just the two of them, tucked away in this quiet little spot surrounded by flowers.
Before the ceremony, we decided to wander the property for portraits. We stopped to soak in the magnolia trees, the woodland trails, and some of the incredible architecture around the Orangerie. Honestly, the entire property felt like it was straight out of a storybook.
Their ceremony was held inside the Limonaia Conservatory, with golden light pouring in. It was officiated by a close friend, and let’s just say it was unforgettable. But it was personal, engaging, and very them, which is exactly what a wedding ceremony should be.
Afterward, they toasted with whiskey and spent time with family—no strict schedule, no stress, and just relished in the fact that they were officially married. It was the kind of wedding that reminds you it's not always about how many guests you have or how lavish the celebration is. It's really about the connection you share and the commitment you've made to your partner.
What Makes The New England Botanical Garden So Special?
There’s a reason the New England Botanical Garden feels like such a hidden gem. It’s one of those rare venues that brings together refined, romantic architecture and the beauty of nature while somehow making it all feel effortless.
Everywhere you turn, there’s something beautiful to look at. I love the greenhouse filled with natural light, the winding path through the woods, and the panoramic view of Mount Wachusett in the distance. It’s versatile in all the best ways.
But what I love most about this venue is how much intention is built into the space. It doesn’t matter if you’re planning a spring elopement or a full summer reception—the beauty is already there. You don’t need to bring in a ton of decor or do anything over the top to make it feel magical.
Some of my favorite spots on the property include:
The Orangerie – A glass conservatory that looks like it was plucked out of a European garden. It’s stunning for receptions, especially with candles flickering and cocktails flowing. And the light in there? Perfect for gorgeous photos.
The Limonaia Conservatory – Warm, filled with light, and surrounded by citrus trees and greenery. It’s perfect for indoor ceremonies that still feel super connected to nature.
The Secret Garden – Quiet, tucked away, and totally romantic. It’s my go-to for first looks and intimate portraits.
The Magnolia Trees – If you’re getting married in the spring, these blooms are everything. They’re fleeting, but if you time it right? There's nothing better.
The Mountain Views – You can actually see Mount Wachusett from the property, and at sunset, it's one-of-a-kind.
Oh—and one more thing that sets this venue apart for me. All (and yes, I mean all!) of the ceremony sites have built-in indoor backup options. That’s not something every garden venue offers, and it makes a huge difference when you’re planning. You can go into your day feeling totally at ease, knowing that no matter what the weather does, you’ll still have a beautiful place to say your vows.

A Quick Note On Photographing at NEBG

New England Botanical Garden is one of those places that just makes people feel at ease. It’s peaceful, full of natural beauty, and has so many great little pockets for photos—whether you're wandering the trails, hanging out in the conservatories, or simply enjoying the view.
The light is beautiful throughout the day, especially in the glass structures. It gives everything this soft, natural glow that makes photos feel warm and genuine without a ton of extra setup. There’s something about being surrounded by plants and fresh air that helps couples relax and be fully present, which always makes for the best kind of photos.
It’s the kind of spot I always love coming back to. Every time, it feels a little different depending on the season, but it always manages to be stunning in its own way.
My Final Thoughts

If you're looking for a wedding venue that feels intentional, naturally beautiful, and full of charm, the New England Botanical Garden is one of the best around. It has that rare mix of structure and wildness—lush gardens, gorgeous architecture, and thoughtful details that make your day feel both grounded and magical.
It’s especially perfect for couples who are drawn to bright, light-filled spaces and feel most at home surrounded by greenery and fresh air. Seriously, it doesn't get better than this. So if you dream of an outdoor wedding without giving up comfort or style, or you want your day to feel relaxed, meaningful, and connected to the earth, I would highly recommend exploring the New England Botanical Garden for yourself.
And, whether you're planning something small and personal or a full celebration with all your favorite people, it's the kind of place that gives you space to slow down and really take it all in. And to me, that’s what it’s all about.
