Two Week Itinerary for Greek Islands

Paul and I went to Greece for our delayed honeymoon in May of 2022. We visited the Islands of Milos, Santorini, and Mykonos, as well as staying in Athens for a few days. Saying that it was amazing is a severe understatement!! I've wanted to go to Santorini for as long as I can remember (or should I say as long as my little brain saw Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants) and it was everything I imagined.

We visited Greece for two weeks and along the way I recorded everywhere we went so that I could provide some recommendations if any of my couples plan to visit the Greek Islands for their honeymoon as well. Although, of course, what Paul and I might enjoy might not be the same for everyone as we value outdoor experiences more than shopping or bar hopping.

Without further adieu, here's the listed itinerary from our trip in terms of where we stayed, ate, explored, visited, and did (without any fanfare of our personal experiences because there's nothing worse than when you just want a recipe and a life story preceds it). Scroll to the end for a photo dump.

Notes on the trip experience:

  • Smoke inside is allowed in most all restaurants

  • Lots of stray cats!

  • Drivers are quite brave and assertive on one-lane roads

  • You cannot drink water out of the faucet

  • You're not allowed to flush toilet paper in most places

  • There is no irrigation, which is why there are no animals on the island

  • We saw very few police

  • People wear so much Yankees and NY stuff (they even sell it)

  • Desserts or dessert wine oftentimes were complimentary with the check

  • Most of our lodging included free breakfast or dinner (half board)

  • We booked all ferries using Ferryhopper.com

  • If we made this itinerary over again, we probably would have spent less time (or no time) in Mykonos and opted to visit Crete instead.
