Aly & John had a beautiful day for their early October wedding in Cape Cod. They each got ready at their respective Airbnbs before meeting at Monument Beach Marina for their first look. It was so sweet to see Aly fix John's bowtie, and for John to have Aly spin around so he could check out her dress. After soaking each other in, their wedding party met us on the beach to take some formals of everyone together. Shortly after we headed to The Brookside Club to meet up with each of their families for more photos before the ceremony.
The ceremony was filled with so much laughter and was so personalized. One moment that still resonates with me today is something the officiant shared. Their officiant, who was also a family friend, asked each of them before the ceremony what influences their idea of marriage. Aly's answer was "memories of falling asleep to the sound of my parents laughter". Even just writing that out makes my heart swell! They each read aloud their own vows which pulled at my heartstrings even more. John confessed that without Aly, he wouldn't have been to find words to write the vows because he had never opened his heart enough. That she's allowed him the space to be emotional, and that she is his home. Aly shared that the second she met John it felt like she'd known him forever.
Aly and John met at UMass Amherst. John caught Aly's attention when his family was late for orientation. They dated all throughout college and beyond. John has just earned his PhD from MIT and Aly graduated from Harvard Medical School and working towards her PhD from Brigham and Women's Hospital in Boston. THEY'RE CRUSHING LIFE YOU GUYS.
Their reception was equally as amazing as the rest of the day, with the live band, Hit Play Boston, singing us into the night.
I truly enjoyed being part of their day. I know they will have a lifetime of love and compassion not only for each other, but for everyone that is lucky enough to get to know them. Enjoy the following photos to relive their wedding-day story!
